Information about Mhmoud
I am MHMOUD MOHMED MHMOUD HASSAN, a 45-year-old Sudanese male. My professional journey commenced following my graduation from the Medical School of Gadarif University in Eastern Sudan in December 2006. I completed my housemanship and commenced my residency in general surgery by 2010. In 2017, I obtained my medical doctorate in general surgery from the Sudan Medical Specialization Board and began my career as a general surgeon in various hospitals across Sudan. My engagement in teaching medical students began during my tenure as a registrar in general surgery, as the residency program recommended teaching and mentoring junior medical staff. My passion for teaching and the reciprocal exchange of the latest medical information motivated my involvement in multiple groups advocating such principles. Consequently, I began instructing in surgery and joined the Mahart Institute, which offers numerous courses for junior medical staff, including house officers, medical general practitioners, and junior residents. Following my medical doctorate, I advanced my skills by completing five courses in trauma, encompassing international courses such as Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) and the European Trauma Course (ETC). I also undertook courses in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS). I was nominated and awarded a certificate of instructor potential in all these courses and successfully completed the General Instructor Course (GIC) to become an international instructor in 2021. In 2017, I applied and was accepted as a part-time lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Medical Science and Technology (UMST), in the Department of Surgery. Within a year, I became a full-time Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery, teaching the complete range of surgical courses, including both clinical and theoretical aspects. After two years, I was nominated as the Head of the Department of Surgery at the College of Medicine. I executed this role for approximately six months, exercising full authority to regulate, administer, and refine the surgical curriculum with the assistance of senior staff. Subsequently, I relocated to Eritrea to join the staff at Orotta College of Medicine and Health Sciences in the Department of Surgery. The college initiated its first residency program in surgery for postgraduate students, in which we participated as founders, educators, and trainers. Additionally, we were engaged in the assessment and modification of the undergraduate surgical curriculum for medical students.
I am currently enrolled in the online Master of Medical Education program at the University of Warwick. Due to financial constraints, I have temporarily paused my studies with the intention of resuming next year.
